Tea Scoops by Samorost

Tea sticks or needles...or we can call them tea wands. Lovely to explore different shapes. I think these are nice addition to my other designs. Hello friends,  after three years of this blog being dead I decided to start posting again. Poor quality photos on Instagram was one reason, and also I would like to share here bit more than on IG.  Extra photos of the pieces I made and probably more tea related and nature photos as well.  Hope you will like this, that you find time to look here and enjoy beauty of the wood and other on bigger screen. Set went to my dear customer in Singapore. This Redgum wood comes from ancient tree that was about 1,000 years old when felled some 8,000 years ago. Seeing all those spoon carvers over the Instagram inspired me to try it too. I was making only tea scoops so far, tomorrow I felt urge to try spoon instead. This one will serve as tea spoon for gyokuro. It is from piece of old oak wood and by coincidence it is the very same piece of wood I made my first TeaBridge from. Kind of symbolic being this my first, is it not. Not having proper tools for spoon carving it was bit of a challenge but I am happy with the result. Highly addictive stuff!

Kind of off topic but I thought I share few photos of this. I fell in love with this gorgeous whisky glass the second I saw it. As a single malt whisky lover I had to get this. Wonderful piece of art, hand-blown borosilicate glass. Double walled. It feels great in the hand, beautiful drinking experience. Will be probably good for tea tasting too. This glass is so photogenic.

Recently I got this gorgeous tea pot by my friend Petr Novak. I thought I share few photos of this little gem. It is about 95 ml, unglazed and wood fired. Made from hight iron clay. There are some beautiful ash-fire effects going on. It pours well and the lit fits perfectly. I dedicated this one to red teas. I am so happy with it.

...or was it on earth? Wanted to share this wonderful color combination of black bog oak and nice orange/red hawthorn wood. I simply can't stop looking at this. I am also trying new matte finish here, both on scoop and tea pick. So far I am happy with it. Thanks for looking! One would not say that all these wood chips comes just from carving this one scoop, I was surprised myself. I usually do not pay attention to this, but when I saw the shaving I thought that it is kind of interesting to see.
